Revised " unpacking a quote "

“ So of course I said no more that score , and we went to sleep before long , He thought I was  asleep first , but I wasn’t , and lay there for hours trying to decide whether that front pattern really did move together or separately “ (page 653)
In charlotte Perkins Stetson story “The Yellow Wallpaper “the narrator of the passage is giving the reader glimpse of how the narrators unstable state of mind is, how mentally she isn’t okay. In the quotation , the narrator saids “ he thought I was asleep first , but I wasn’t , and lay there for hours trying to decide whether that front pattern really did move together or separately “. The narrator is losing sleep thinking obsessing over this wallpaper in her secure ancestral halls she had for the summer. The narrator clearly thinks this wallpaper as a living thing in her house. This shows she has some sort of sickness and that she is clearly obsessing over a non-living thing. Meaning, how the narrator has a huge imagination, to think of this wallpaper to be actually moving when in reality wallpaper can’t move.
The “he” in the quotation is the narrators husband named john, who clearly doesn’t fully know how mentally unstable his wife is. It said “we went to sleep before long, he thought was asleep first, but I wasn’t “. The relationship between the narrator and her husband is also not stable. For her husband not knowing his wife isn’t truly asleep, yet thinking about fictional things shows how he is clue less to the idea of his wife not being okay. This shows how the husband john seems to not fully know how truly his wife is sickly.
In previously paragraphs, the narrator saids “you see he does not believe I am sick, and what can one do? “   This shows her husband has no care to even take the time to figure out how mentally sick his wife. As a husband when you truly love your wife, you care for every inch of her, clearly john has no care for her. Not knowing how sick she is, he can’t even help and yet supposedly he is a “physician “. It is just crazy to know that john is supposedly a physician but he does not believe that his wife is sick, and over time it can become worse and more damaging to their relationship. The relationship between these two clearly has no meaning, no love to it. Throughout the enter passage the narrators continues to becomes more and more obsessive with the wall paper.

Revised Bryant park assignment

On  a wet gloomy afternoon , standing in front one of Bryant park entrance , a man about 5’11 , light skinned , wearing all black down to the shoes with navy blue glasses , standing right in the middle of the entrance seeming not to care at where he is standing. But having his eyes glued to his red covered iPhone, with a straight serious face  , no facial expression , no nothing. With , what it looks like a hash brown from McDonalds. While his eyes looking down at his phone , he took a huge bite of his hash brown and chewed ,  his cheeks moving up and down , while he munches.  He looks out into the park , then turns his head into the crowd of people crossing the avenue , steps down the entrance steps , walks a few inches and blends into the large crowd of people and disappears .

At a rounded dark green colored wet table  with high chairs surrounded by many similar tables near a little coffee stand named witchcraft , right at the corner of Bryant park entrance , was a white man sitting alone.  Wearing a light grey long coat , black glasses with a light baby blue collar shirt. Sitting alone at the table , looking down at his phone  hes holding in one hand and holding on to his large witchcraft coffee  in the other. Then takes a huge sip of his coffee , still at the same time looking at this phone , gulps the coffee , his adams apple moves in speed up and down. As his eye open up widely , he strokes back his hair with one hand  while looking at his phone , that same second he quickly gets up from the high chair and exits the park and disappers .

Outside the Bryant park , there are many stands , as this about 5’3-5’5’ mid tan skinned women with short black hair with a bright yellow dress , that brighten the mood walked down the avenue. She suddenly stops at a ticket stand , looking down at the flyer given to her , her brow arches and starts speaking to the man next to her, all hands motions expressing herself , she puts down the flyer while shaking her head no and continues walking down the avenue.

On top of a larger statue  at an entrance of Bryant park  , laid  a dark purple spotted , medium sized pigeon , piking at its chest for about a minute or so  , then a  sudden noise alerts the  birds that frighten it . The pigeon flys down to the ground , as it walks around everyone in its way , it gets frighten once again , flips its wings and flys away into the sky .

Final assignment

                                               Final assignment

In my first semester of college, the English 101 class I took with Professor Alexander learning a lot about writing and how much techniques there are to writing. The way someone can express themselves, their moods, feelings, actions all in one paper. The different ways each author has their own sense of writing or using different techniques to write their writings have really open my eyes to see how writing is a way to express yourself and your feelings .
The different types of assignments I was assigned to do have taught me different ways of the English writing. The yellow wallpaper assignment that was assigned to me had many techniques to it, the way it had many expressions as well. Learning how to “unpack a quotation”, which is something have never done through my high school years, it was interesting how you take a quote and have to explain it and basically explain a certain topic or idea you believe the quotation has or expresses, that basically explains the story or how important that specific passage is throughout the entire story.  The writing technique “unpacking a quote” showed how an author, by taking single quote, they can write a whole writing about it as their own personal idea , opinion upon it.
In the Yellow wallpaper, the narrator of the story expresses herself in the story to the fullest. In the passage the narrator writes basically about an overly obsession she is about a wallpaper in a specific room in her and her husband’s rental summer home they had. The way the narrator wrote to set the mood for the reader throughout the entire reading was very interesting to me. It taught me how writing can express a certain person feelings and how it can kind of be like a diary and when you look at it at that way, it can open up your mind. The you can’t express yourself as in life, you most defiantly can on a piece of paper .
In descriptive writing, there many ways to express yourself or to express certain thing, you can go into details about. By going into details within the story that can actually give the reader the vision of what they are reading, the way the author or narrator describes it. The way a single thing or action can be stretched out to be described and how even the littlest thing can be expressed to be such a huge thing in a readers mind to in vision.
In the story, “The yellow wallpaper “by Charlotte Perkins, the narrator of the story uses the technique of description a lot throughout the entire story. She writes about this yellow wallpaper in a certain room in her ancestral halls she had for the summer with her husband. In the passage she describes the walls as “ the worse paper she saw in her life “ and “ one of those sprawling flamboyant patterns committing every artistic sin “, as the reader I can in vision something really ugly looking . I can also in vision how much disgust she has towards the wallpaper as well. The writing technique of actually somewhat feeling the anger the narrator had and how I can imagine the narrator going crazy because of this wallpaper.
Throughout this fall semester in my English 101 class, I’ve gotten to see the different types of writing techniques that were being used by different authors. It taught me a lot of about writing and how someone can express themselves about things and how powerful it can be, that even the reader can either imagine or feel the actions and scenes of the story. Learning different techniques of descriptive can defiantly help oneself become a better writer.
